An Evening with Randy Newman

American music legend, Randy Newman, returns to Australia in January-February 2020, for the first time in almost ten years.
With a career spanning five decades, a catalogue of songs that run the gamut from heartbreaking to satirical, plus a host of unforgettable film scores, Randy Newman is a cultural icon, a “national treasure” (NPR).

“Few songwriters can cut to the quick the way Newman does. He remains a great American songbook unto himself.” – The Guardian

Since 1968, Newman has released a slew of solo records, most recently 2017’s critically acclaimed Dark Matter, which includes the Grammy Award-winning track ‘Putin’. His legendary repertoire includes ‘Short People’, ‘You Can Leave Your Hat On’, ‘I Love LA’, ‘Sail Away’, ‘Mama Told Me (Not To Come)’ to name a few.

Newman’s impressive, prolific talent has also seen him score all four Toy Story films, along with feature pictures Monsters Inc. and Monsters University, Seabiscuit, Cars, A Bug’s Life and Meet The Parents amongst others. In 2018 he collaborated with Rex Orange County on his version of Newman’s ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’, and in 2019, in addition to Toy Story 4, he collaborated with Chance The Rapper on ‘5 Year Plan’ for the album The Big Day.

Randy Newman’s incredible list of accolades includes seven Grammys, three Emmys, and two Academy Awards (from an incredible twenty nominations), as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

An Evening with Randy Newman promises to be a magical night, a taste of a storied career that has brought joy to generations. Australian audiences are in for a treat when this legend touches down in January.

Dylan Moran – Dr Cosmos Tour

Legendary Irish comedian Dylan Moran is returning to Australia with a brand-new show Dr. Cosmos. Moran will once again offer his unique take on love, politics, misery and the everyday absurdities of life, all served with poetical panache from one of the finest comedians of his generation.

Moran has been called the Oscar Wilde of comedy and his famed style – deadpan, witty and crackpot lyricism – promises to be an unmissable journey through his interpretations of the world, swerving cliche to offer a cutting blow to our idiosyncrasies.

Dylan Moran is a comedian, actor and writer who, in 1996 at the Edinburgh Fringe, became the youngest ever winner of the Perrier Award. He went on to co-write and star in Black Books which won two BAFTAs. Other notable screen roles include Notting Hill, Calvary, Shaun of the Dead and Run Fatboy Run. Moran has toured the world many times, including versions of his show as far afield as Kazakhstan, Ukraine and across the US. His last tour, Off the Hook, took in 149 dates across the globe.

Don’t miss the one and only Dylan Moran! These shows will sell out!

JUST ANNOUNCED! Due to popular demand, Dylan Moran will now be taking the stage for a second show on Friday 15 November.

★★★★ “Trumping Shakespeare, he reduces life to four ages: “Child, failure, old and dead”. Faced with one-liners as killing as that the world suddenly seems a better place.”

The Telegraph

★★★★ “His comedy takes on an existential dimension, as tubby, nicotine-starved, emasculated Moran comes to represent the struggles we all wage for meaning and connection”

The Guardian

★★★★ “High-octane riffs from Irish master of grumpiness…spellbinding”

Evening Standard

★★★★ “In his heightened ideas and vocabulary, Moran compulsively swerves clichés as he builds up layers of laughs… funny and fascinating, and utterly deserving of his place in the modern classics’

Dame Edna My Gorgeous Life

The grand dame of world theatre, Dame Edna Everage, has been forced out of retirement by the demands of her adoring “Precious Possums”, announcing a surprise tour of Australia in September & October.

In a letter to her fans, Dame Edna apologised for upsetting them when she announced her retirement from public life, blaming her manager, “failed actor and attention seeker” Barry Humphries.

“One of the reasons I am adored pretty much worldwide is that I’ve always told you the truth; mostly the truth about yourselves, and even sometimes about me,” Dame Edna said.

“However this is an apology. It’s an apology for once telling you a wicked fib: a porkie, a cruel deceitful lie. I told you I had retired. That was a few years ago and when my announcement got around the globe a lot of people ‘freaked out’, to employ a phrase I never use. Now I’m reborn, fit as a fiddle, and rid of the leech who tormented me for so long. So, Possums, please do come and say hello to me. It would be lovely to see your faces again.”
