Craft & Quilt Fair

Update from event organiser:

Part of our role is making the decisions in the best overall interest for both exhibitors and visitors along with the overall objective of ROI for all involved.

We’ve been closely monitoring the situation in Western Australia following the recent decision to close down for a snap lockdown for three days and the significant flow on effects that this has to other States and clients. Right now while Perth is emerging from the lockdown, there are still restrictions including mandatory masks, and a 4sqm rule – the 4sqm rule in particular restricts attendance severely for an event. Additionally, and more problematic given 60% of exhibitors are based interstate is the quarantine requirements now in place for SA, ACT, VIC and QLD. Many exhibitors have already voiced that any quarantine both from a cost and time perspective is not practical which we completely understand. Most States have been requiring an extended period without cases to ease travel restrictions so how long these will be in place for is impossible to determine.

Whilst we believe this should be lifted before the Perth Fair it does cause us to take a gamble, and given the extensive freight times in place this would be irresponsible to chance. If freight was to leave, and border restrictions had not eased, exhibitors could be left significantly out of pocket.

We have therefore decided the best action is to reschedule the Fair back to 14- 18 July.

Given we have just lodged and have in transit a personal mailing invite (at a huge expense that we cannot reclaim) this is a decision that comes with significant pain, however we have always said safety overlayed with the right return has to be our focus.

We will be in contact with you over the next few days and look forward to delivering Perth in July.

The Perth Craft & Quilt Fair features inspiring displays and talent over five craft-filled days. At the fair you will find talented guest artists, workshops, classes and hard to find craft supplies from exhibitors who are experts in their field. As well as patchwork and quilting items you will find embroidery, knitting yarn, crochet ideas, papercraft, beading and so much more. QuiltWest, the annual exhibition by the West Australian Quilters, will be a highlight of the fair. Come along and be inspired at the home of craft! Careers Expo 2021 + VET Expo

As you are aware, since Saturday 23 April, the Perth and Peel region has been in a COVID-19 induced lock-down. On Monday (26 April) the Premier, Mark McGowan, announced an end to the most severe aspects of the lock-down but maintained a number of measures that impose restrictions on running the Careers Expo. Our understanding is that based on circumstances not changing, we will be able to stage the event this coming Saturday (1 May) and Sunday (2 May) only. It is our intention to do this. On this basis, the following arrangements will apply:

We will not be open on with Thursday, 29 April or Friday 30 April.

We will stage the expo between 10:00am and 4:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday and you are free to attend on either of those days.

Subject to State Government advice, we may need to enforce mandatory mask wearing at the expo.

We understand that these arrangements may not suit everyone but we believe they strike a balance between cancelling the event and giving people an opportunity to explore their career options.

Please be patient over the next few days as we work to reset plans.

The Careers Expo & VET Expo feature all of the State’s universities together with a number of out-of-state institutions; many of the local technical colleges; a host of para-professional and vocational education training organisations; and a variety of careers and employment advisory agencies.
