The As We Are Art Awards are WA’s premier exhibition showcasing Western Australian artists with intellectual disabilities.
Founded in 2002, As We Are is an important community initiative in Western Australia that aims to bring joy and wellbeing to the lives of artists who have an intellectual disability and those who are part of the experience.
Entrants will compete for seven coveted art award categories, with the judges also awarding a number of high commendations for outstanding entries. Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork in the People’s Choice Award.
The As We Are Art Award provides a fantastic opportunity for Western Australian artists who have an intellectual disability to create, exhibit and sell their artwork. Each year a diversity of artworks from both emerging and established artists is received. For some this is the first time they have exhibited; for others, the award is a great platform to having solo exhibitions and advancing their professional visual arts career.
The 2021 As We Are Art Award principal sponsor is Nulsen Group, the major partners are Activ, Rise and Uniting WA, and the event partners are Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and Perth Expo.
