The Gipsy Kings

World-renowned flamenco, rock and pop musicians, The Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes and Tonino Baliardo, the original songwriters and guitarists on hits such as ‘Bamboleo’, ‘Volare’ ‘Djobi Djoba’ and ‘Bem Bem Maria’ are returning to tour Australia this April!

The band who captured the world’s imagination 25 years ago went platinum with their self-titled debut album and became a genuine world music phenomenon with the hit ‘Bamboleo’. Since then, the band have gone on to perform live in every corner of the globe and sold over fourteen million albums worldwide. Their compilation The Best of Gipsy Kings was in the charts for over a year.

In their native Gipsy language ‘gitane’ they introduced listeners to a unique, irresistible blend of traditional flamenco styles, vigorous guitar work and passionate vocals; this indigenous traditional style is known as “rumba flamenca“.

Over the years The Gipsy Kings—whose members hail from the gypsy settlements in Arles and Montpelier in the south of France—have included singers and guitarists from the Reyes (Canut, Nicolas, Pablo and Patchai) and Baliardo families (Diego, Paco and Tonino). Lead singer Nicolas Reyes is the son of famed Flamenco singer José Reyes, who, with Manitas de Plata, sold millions of records in the 1960s and 70s.

As founding members, songwriters and singers – Tonino Baliardo and Nicolas Reyes hold the torch and continue The Gipsy Kings long family tradition. Don’t miss this high-energy celebration!

Dylan Moran – Dr Cosmos Tour

Legendary Irish comedian Dylan Moran is returning to Australia with a brand-new show Dr. Cosmos. Moran will once again offer his unique take on love, politics, misery and the everyday absurdities of life, all served with poetical panache from one of the finest comedians of his generation.

Moran has been called the Oscar Wilde of comedy and his famed style – deadpan, witty and crackpot lyricism – promises to be an unmissable journey through his interpretations of the world, swerving cliche to offer a cutting blow to our idiosyncrasies.

Dylan Moran is a comedian, actor and writer who, in 1996 at the Edinburgh Fringe, became the youngest ever winner of the Perrier Award. He went on to co-write and star in Black Books which won two BAFTAs. Other notable screen roles include Notting Hill, Calvary, Shaun of the Dead and Run Fatboy Run. Moran has toured the world many times, including versions of his show as far afield as Kazakhstan, Ukraine and across the US. His last tour, Off the Hook, took in 149 dates across the globe.

Don’t miss the one and only Dylan Moran! These shows will sell out!

JUST ANNOUNCED! Due to popular demand, Dylan Moran will now be taking the stage for a second show on Friday 15 November.

★★★★ “Trumping Shakespeare, he reduces life to four ages: “Child, failure, old and dead”. Faced with one-liners as killing as that the world suddenly seems a better place.”

The Telegraph

★★★★ “His comedy takes on an existential dimension, as tubby, nicotine-starved, emasculated Moran comes to represent the struggles we all wage for meaning and connection”

The Guardian

★★★★ “High-octane riffs from Irish master of grumpiness…spellbinding”

Evening Standard

★★★★ “In his heightened ideas and vocabulary, Moran compulsively swerves clichés as he builds up layers of laughs… funny and fascinating, and utterly deserving of his place in the modern classics’

Jonathan Van Ness: Road to Beijing

Emmy-nominated television personality, podcaster and hairstylist to the stars, Jonathan Van Ness, is set to bring his Road to Beijing world tour to Australia this February!

As the star of the Emmy-nominated web series Gay of Thrones, and the Emmy-winning reality show Queer Eye, Jonathan Van Ness has become known in the entertainment industry for his fabulous, unstoppable energy. For the first time, he will bring that energy to the stand-up stages in Australia and New Zealand in February 2020, with his unforgettable live show, serving cirque-du-so-gay-realness between stand-up sets so good your face will be in need of a massage from all the smiling. It’s all inspired by his ongoing attempt—and lifelong obsession—to become a figure-skating prodigy just in time for the next Olympic cycle, which just so happens to be in 2022 in Beijing!

As well as shining as Queer Eye’s groomer, hair guru and self-care advocate, Jonathan starred on the Emmy-nominated series “Gay of Thrones” (Funny or Die), a witty social commentary series recapping HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Launched in 2013, the series just wrapped its seventh and final season and garnered Emmy nominations in 2016 and 2018 for ‘Outstanding Short Form Variety Series.’

Van Ness also continues to work on his passion project, his podcast “Getting Curious,” a weekly exploration of all the things Jonathan is curious about. The podcast was listed as one of the Top Podcasts of 2018 by Time Magazine, and recently won the iHeart Radio Award for Best LGBTQ Podcast. 2018 was a breakthrough year for Jonathan, who realized two new passions – for the arts of stand-up comedy and figure skating. Most recently, Jonathan announced that his revelatory memoir, OVER THE TOP, will be released in September 24, 2019.

Dame Edna My Gorgeous Life

The grand dame of world theatre, Dame Edna Everage, has been forced out of retirement by the demands of her adoring “Precious Possums”, announcing a surprise tour of Australia in September & October.

In a letter to her fans, Dame Edna apologised for upsetting them when she announced her retirement from public life, blaming her manager, “failed actor and attention seeker” Barry Humphries.

“One of the reasons I am adored pretty much worldwide is that I’ve always told you the truth; mostly the truth about yourselves, and even sometimes about me,” Dame Edna said.

“However this is an apology. It’s an apology for once telling you a wicked fib: a porkie, a cruel deceitful lie. I told you I had retired. That was a few years ago and when my announcement got around the globe a lot of people ‘freaked out’, to employ a phrase I never use. Now I’m reborn, fit as a fiddle, and rid of the leech who tormented me for so long. So, Possums, please do come and say hello to me. It would be lovely to see your faces again.”
