Media Release: PCEC to Reopen in August

Wednesday 24 June 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Following advice released by the WA Government, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is working vigorously behind the scenes to reopen the venue.

The statement issued by the WA Government last week announced the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in line with Phase 4 of the WA COVID-19 roadmap.

From Saturday 27 June, PCEC’s only restriction will be the 2sqm rule on capacity limits and from July 18th can return to full capacity limits in a COVID-safe way.

PCEC General Manager Nigel Keen said that the venue stands behind the WA Government’s choice to ease restrictions and applauds the work of Premier Mark McGowan in handling the COVID-19 crisis.

‘The steps taken by the Premier and his government have awarded the WA business events and exhibition industry a much-needed opportunity to return to normal business activity as soon as possible.’

Although WA border restrictions remain in place with the rapidly evolving situation in Victoria, PCEC is pleased to resume hosting events for WA-based attendees.

As WA’s only dedicated convention and exhibition centre, Mr Keen said the venue is uniquely placed to run events in a COVID-safe environment.

‘Clients can utilise the size and flexibility of our space to host events safely. We have 16,000 square meters of event floor space and 20 dedicated meeting rooms and will be taking every precaution required by state health authorities to maintain the safety and wellbeing of our patrons.’

PCEC encourages members of the public to monitor the PCEC website and social media for updates regarding the venue reopening.
